A true combination of traditional and contemporary cabinetry styles, for this beautiful modest open-plan kitchen/living area renovation project.
Originally a small bungalow, that underwent a 2nd storey extension and full renovation and internal reconfiguration of the whole downstairs to create a lovely modest kitchen/living hub area.
The space had be to precisely designed as not a huge area, plus multiple doorways, a staircase, and large sliding patio doors meant wall space for the kitchen was reduced so we came up with a carefully considered design to maximise storage as much as possible, whilst creating something with the wow factor.
The space allowed for 1 main tall run of cabinetry and a large island, with the remaining space to be a lounge area, so we needed to incorporate a dining space within the island.
We introduced a lower level breakfast bar/dining space to allow for comfortable seating at a standard height (as opposed to taller bar stools) and designed this to wraparound the island, to contrast the stunning quartz worktop details throughout the island - perfectly mitred on all 3 sides.
The tall cabinetry includes a large double larder (with internal oak drawers, oak spice racks and door activated internal lighting), double ovens, and integrated Bora fridge freezer (with internal ice machine).
The island features 2x integrated Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers, Bora vented induction hob, integrated bin, and a sink with worktop cladded side panels. Further island features include a hidden pop-up power socket, and integrated wine bottle cooler - positioned in close proximity to the island seating area, which is close to the large sliding patio doors, creating a great entertaining space in warmer weather!
Not wanting to waste any crucial storage space, we made some hidden handleless cabinets under the seating area.
We completed the design with a separate bar area, with dual zone wine fridge, illuminated fluted glass wall cabinets, bespoke antique mirrored splashback, and boiling Quooker tap (with another matching worktop cladded sink), so can either be used as a bar, or for a daily breakfast tea/coffee station.
